El Cata
Two hits with Shakira, co-author
of the smash single "I know you want me" (Calle ocho), countless
collaborations
with names such as Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull, and Lil Jon, there is no doubt El Cata is one the biggest stars in Latin music.
He lives in the Dominican Republic, his homeland and is considered “EL REPRESENTANTE DEL GENERO” for what is
merengue electronico.
I had the pleasure of speaking
to this multi talented singer, author and producer!
Was music always your biggest passion
and how does it feel to be so popular these days?
For sure music has always been my
biggest passion and it's a blessing to have seen this whole dream turn into reality; it is great to share it with others and
to also be able to help who needs it.

What is your achievement you are the most
proud of?
Proud of myself and having faith in
every step I choose when it comes to believe in me.
How was it being approached by Shakira
and writing/singing with her?
It's amazing when someone like me,
coming from a wonderful culture and with no back up or record label ends up in a featuring with a super world star like Shakira:
it is a miracle lol; This is a proof that has showed me Faith and Sacrifices are important; Also have learnt many things from
her such as being humble and a perfectionist when it comes to career.
What’s the side of the business
you enjoy the most?
Interact with Fans (people, when on
stage)
How
is life in the Dominican Republic? You are known as a spokesperson for your country, always speaking out for those who need
a voice…

Life is very gorgeous in my country
The Dominican Republic even knowing that no one makes a profit on his own land but my people are the most thankful and always
looking out to commemorate and support their celebrities.
What’s
next in your career?
Finishing the Album "EL REPRESENTANTE
DEL GENERO", as well as launching a clothing line from Martin Polanco by: El Cata and a Spanish movie for the urban cut,
coming out at the end of 2012 entitled "Un Nuevo Dia" along with all pending collaborations and upcoming tours.

Is there an artist in particular you’d
love to work with?
Anyone that will come across me, and with
no doubt is going end up saying Ratata.
Where did the famous RATATA we
hear in every song come from?
My favorite “saying” ratata
came from the sight of emotion deep inside me when I saw many people singing LOCA when it first hit the
market; RATATA means: "WE CORONATED" we are doing it big..
What is it that you love besides music?
What are your hobbies and passions?

Jetski, Planting Roses, PlayStation,
Movies, Reading, Baseball, and so many other things that I know most of you like too.
Do you intend to keep on singing in Spanish
or are there more songs in English coming up?
Yes we are planning to sing in many
languages because the World may be decorated by many languages and our daily duties are
basically about having people identifying themselves with us and forget at least for
a moment sadness and bringing them to a happy mood in just one second!!
El Cata is the composer and producer of LOCA and Rabiosa... and he is the author of I know u want me...
